Il Brunello di Montalcino is certainly one of the best known and most prestigious wines at international level. Over time this product has become a global icon of Made in Italy, making its production area famous all over the world.

But how do we understand when a good Il Brunello di Montalcino is in our glass?

First of all, it is important to say that the blend is 100% Sangiovese in purity, a type of vine that in Montalcino is called "brunello", hence its name. The production area is exclusively that of the municipal territory of Montalcino, and its title alcoholic strength is at least 12.5 degrees.

If you find yourself in front of an elegant bottle of Il Brunello di Montalcino Corte dei Venti, you will first notice its precious Docg label, which must not be missing. Pouring it into the glass you will immediately notice a ruby red color, slightly tending to garnet with aging.

Bring the glass close to your nose, you will feel a persistent and intense aroma, with hints of plum, wild berries, maybe leather and tobacco, an effect due to the aging in oak barrels. You will taste its tannic and warm flavor, harmonious with the fruity scents mentioned above.

A Brunello di Montalcino is not a Brunello di Montalcino and cannot be sold until it stays at least 5 years from the vintage and the following two years of aging in oak barrels, plus another 4 months in the bottle. And for the Riserva bottle, the times are longer.

Our Brunello, La Corte dei Venti, is aged for thirty-six months in Slovenian oak barrels of 20/25 hl and at least eight months in bottles, while the Riserva is aged for forty-two to forty-eight months in barrels plus six / twelve months in the bottle.
